Frequently asked questions
There isn’t currently a definite date.
From early 2025 pension schemes across the UK will start to connect to the dashboard infrastructure. The ‘Dashboards Available Point’ is the moment when pensions dashboards will be available for widespread public use.
The Government will decide when it believes the dashboard systems can support widespread public use. It will give at least six months’ notice of the Dashboards Available Point. The earliest likely date is late autumn 2026 but it could be later than that.
An individual will access the pensions dashboards online. Once their identity is verified by a government verification service, they will enter some basic information and request to see their pensions information. Compulsory information which will be asked for includes first name, last name and date of birth. Other information which may be helpful is address, National Insurance number, email address and previous names you have used.
A pension finder service will send a ‘Find’ request to all pension schemes. If any scheme has a match, it will notify the individual and, if they consent, the pension scheme will send information to the dashboard, where the individual will then be able to view it.
Transactions won’t be permitted on the dashboards, so people can view information but can’t take action such as transfer a pension or switch investment options. This may change at some point in the future. Transactions can of course be done by contacting your financial adviser.
If identity is verified and a match is found the dashboard will show details of that pension scheme(s). It will show basic information including:
- Scheme name and date of joining scheme
- Fund value
- Estimated income at retirement age
- Links to useful information
It’s worth noting this won’t be live data (at least initially). The pension scheme or provider can use the information from the most recent annual statement which could be up to 13 months previously.
The Pension Dashboards Programme is being delivered by the Money and Pension Service (MaPS) – a government sponsored money guidance service - working with the Department for Work and Pensions.
MaPS will provide a dashboard, but other companies can do as well. All dashboards use and display the same underlying information so you will get the same results from each one.
