Our platform

Your financial security is important to us

Phishing is when people send emails impersonating legitimate businesses to scam the recipient into providing personal information for financial gain. Phishing and 'spoof' emails are happening more often so it's important you know how to keep your financial information and personal details safe by being able to tell a fake email from the real deal.

What to look out for

Fraudsters will try to get money or information from you by sending fake emails, impersonating big companies or scare mongering you into providing your personal details via email. They may use some of the following techniques to achieve this.

Links to fake websites

These are often designed to impersonate a legitimate business or government agency, and are designed to capture any information you enter.

Dangerous attachments

These can contain many kinds of malware that can harvest information from, or interfere with, your computer or device.

How to protect yourself

  • Check the sender's email address is real.
  • Check for spelling or grammatical errors.
  • Be cautious when receiving unexpected emails.
  • Think twice before clicking on links and attachments.

Spotting a fake Nucleus email

  • Our email addresses always end with nucleusfinancial.com.
  • We will always greet you with your title and surname e.g. “Dear Mr Webster”.
  • We will always include your client reference number, and adviser's name, company and phone number so you know it’s really from us.
  • We will never ask you to confirm financial or personal information by email.
  • We will not scare you with urgent or threatening emails.

Reporting suspicious emails to us

You can send any suspicious emails to emailscams@nucleusfinancial.com using the following process. This allows us to conduct a full forensic analysis of the email.

This is the process for Gmail and Outlook, however, if you use another email provider, we suggest you Google 'forward as attachment' for that provider.

Alternatively, please forward the email normally, however we won't be able to carry out a full forensic examination of it.
